What’s something good that happened for you in 2020?
In a year of social distancing, anxiety, separation from family/loved ones, discrimination, injustice and a multitude of other things there’s no need to say that it was a difficult year for most of us. Looking back on this year there were both good and bad times for all of us. It was a year marked with confusion and uncertainty, but amidst these things, I am looking back on all the positive things that have happened in 2020. This is my 2020 year recap.
Asheville, North Carolina
If you’ve heard of Asheville, North Carolina it probably had something to do with either breweries or the Biltmore Estate. If so, it would be pretty accurate! Asheville is home to the famous Biltmore Estate as well as numerous different breweries and part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s a charming little town with plenty of places to get food and drinks and beautiful mountain views just minutes outside of the city. In this Asheville, North Carolina travel guide I talk about where to go, places to get food and drinks, and where we stayed during our visit.
TRAVEL GUIDE: What to pack for a North Carolina road trip
It’s August 2020 and we are still in the midst of residual COVID-19 restrictions and limitations on travel. But it has been 9 months since Andrew and I have done any sort of major “traveling” (3 months since the beach), and we’re dying to go somewhere. So him and I are taking a mini road trip to Asheville, North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains! Asheville is only about 3 1/2 hours away from us, but we still want to be fully prepared for the road trip no matter how small. So I created a checklist of everything I want and need to bring for the trip to make sure I don’t miss anything on the way out! I organized my checklist into categories so that I don’t mix anything up or overlook anything.
“How was your trip to Florida?” everyone asks.
It was AMAZING. Oh my gosh. I didn’t want to leave. I’m ready to go back already. And this is so true. I enjoyed Boca Raton and Miami Beach so much that I’m thinking about moving down there. They’re so beautiful and inviting. You feel like you’re in luxury everywhere you go. And who wouldn’t like that, right?
For anyone who didn’t already know, I recently went on a business trip with my company to Florida for a Board of Directors meeting. Being the administrative assistant, I am in charge of much of the logistical work – scheduling meetings, ordering supplies, and being the main point of contact to connect people. I assisted in creating the meeting agenda, keeping track of flights, arranging transportation, and setting up the room for the board meeting.
Who here has been to Universal Orlando or Disney World? I may be the only one who HASN’T! So it was super funny to me that I was taking a vacation to Orlando and not even going to Disney or Universal! Seems silly, right? Until you discover the Marriott Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center. If you’ve never heard of the Gaylord chains you are truly missing out!! But I’m here to change that. I’ve created a detailed guide below with all the important info you need and a bunch of indulgent photos.
(This photo was taken from the Gaylord Palms website here. I do not own this photo. However I do own all other photos in this post!)
Like most of us, I get really stressed right before a vacation or trip. I feel like I have to have each day planned, all my outfits paired with shoes and accessories, and decided on what photos to take where. Once I have my full looks planned, I take time to set up a flat lay photo or two, and then pack it up when I’m done. Needless to say, it takes a WHILE to pack! Once all outfits, toiletries, and snacks were packed, Andrew and I began our roadtrip to Orlando (Kissimee if we’re being exact).
