A Quick Fix Fashion Trick //

At the end of September, I was graciously invited to my first blogger meetup where I had the chance to meet this wonderful group of ladies and make new friends. I knew we would be taking photos for the ‘Gram, and I wanted to make a good impression on these ladies, so obviously I wanted to look good (minus my hair, because it’s always being dumb)! I felt fairly confident in the outfit I put together… at least at first.

I went with a super soft off white/cream top with flared sleeves, dark emerald green skinny jeans, and my ever-so-popular burgundy velvet booties with a statement necklace to bring it all together. I thought I had done a pretty decent job. I felt cute and confident, ready to meet, greet, and connect.

I was hesitant at first and almost didn’t go to the meetup, but I’m so glad that I did. Everybody was so great – we had good conversations about what each of us does, or is aspiring to do, and we all encouraged each other. And everybody had such unique, styled looks that everyone had their own distinguished style. It was so neat and inspiring meeting these ladies and seeing how they style themselves and the content they create.

I was having such a great time that I wasn’t even thinking about the 85+ degree weather and humidity and how it would make me sweat! (In my defense, I thought we would be indoors).

But as it happens to the best of us, in the hot heat and sun, that super cute off white tee grew big, noticeable sweat spots under my arms… and left outlines to make matters worse! I was so embarrassed when I noticed. I was trying to keep my arms down and my hair in front to cover them.

I had sweat spots when this was taken but the cover-up worked! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Fix

After the meet up I had a few errands to run but was too embarrassed to go around wearing a shirt that had large sweat spots under the arms. I needed to get food and pick up a few things but I was so uncomfortable in the top that I was debating running to TJMaxx and buying a $6 shirt to change into. Even then I still would have had to go in wearing my gross shirt, and I needed to get food first.

Luckily, it just so happened that I had a cute jacket in my car from the other day that I hadn’t brought inside yet. And sure enough, the colors on the jacket worked perfectly with the other colors I was wearing. So right in my car I took off the gross, sweaty shirt and put on this jacket as my top, with nothing but a bra underneath. I went into McAlister’s and TJMaxx wearing the zipped up jacket and it wasn’t as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. It was certainly better than wearing the sweaty shirt! I still ended up buying a shirt from TJMaxx to change into, but this quick fix trick was a life saver that day.

I had been meaning to bring the jacket in for a few days, but I guess God knew I would need it that day. It was definitely a new concept for me – wearing a jacket as a topย – yet, it’s something I could totally do again. Plus, it made for a cute outfit shot. ๐Ÿ˜› Who knows… maybe I’ll start a new trend for F/W 2018!
